چکیده

We examine the effect of an embedding medium refractive index on the plasmon resonant properties of silica core-gold shell nanoshells. The plasmon response is shifted to longer wavelengths with increasing refractive index of the dielectric host matrix, increasing in overall amplitude for nanoparticles in the dipole limit. For nanoshells of constant core-shell ratio, this plasmon shift increases with absolute particle size. We also observe that the plasmon shift is the same for nanoparticles of the same size, independent of core-shell ratio. For larger nanoshells we observe an increase in amplitude of the quadrupole plasmon resonance relative to the dipole plasmon. © 2003 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Cu nanoshells: effects of interband transitions on the nanoparticle plasmon resonance.

The optical properties of metals arise both from optical excitation of interband transitions and their collective electronic, or plasmon, response. Here, we examine the optical properties of Cu, whose strong interband transitions dominate its optical response in the visible region of the spectrum, in a nanoshell geometry. This nanostructure permits the geometrical tuning of the nanoparticle pla...

Theoretical Analysis the Optical Properties of Multi-coupled Silver Nanoshell Particles

The surface plasmon resonances of silver nanoshell particles are studied by Green's function. The nanoshell system of plasmon resonances results from the coupling of the inner and outer shell surface plasmon. The shift of the nanoshell plasmon resonances wavelength is plotted against with different dielectric environments, several different dielectric cores, the ratio of the inner and outer rad...

Surface-enhanced Raman scattering on tunable plasmonic nanoparticle substrates.

Au and Ag nanoshells are investigated as substrates for surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS). We find that SERS enhancements on nanoshell films are dramatically different from those observed on colloidal aggregates, specifically that the Raman enhancement follows the plasmon resonance of the individual nanoparticles. Comparative finite difference time domain calculations of fields at the su...

Improving Electrochromic Properties of WO3 Thin Film with Gold Nanoparticle Additive

In this research, WO3 and Au-WO3 thin films were prepared at different temperatures using the sol gel method. The effect of gold nanoparticles (GNPs) on the electrochromic properties of WO3 was also studied. 2.5 nm GNP was synthesized through sodium citrate reduction of gold chloride in an aqueous solution. These films were characterized by XRD, SEM, TEM, and spectrophotometer analyses. The fil...
